One class had a kid who was always goofing off, not paying attention, bit of a class clown. He was so disruptive that one day after class the teacher made him apologize to me."Gomme....." The teacher raps him on the back of the head and barks "In English!" He says haltingly, "I. Am. Sorry.". He deeply and solemly bowed.

Well, as much as he was always screwing around in class I didn't take him seriously. But, he proved me wrong. He truly did mean the apology and he became one of my best students.

One day the class is talking over me, not paying attention and I'm trying my best. The kid asks me "Urusei eigo wa nan desu ka?" and I replied "Be quiet." He was sitting in the front row and he just turns around and booms "BE QUIET!" Silence. You could hear a pin drop. He grins like a Cheshire Cat and after a beat I said "Thank you."
