I generally taught just 5th and 6th grade at most of my schools. One school I did teach all the grades. Kids that weren't my students would run up to me "Hello! My name is_____!!" I'd give them a handshake and say "Nice to meet you!" This went on at all my schools. Felt like a rockstar. I enter the school and I'm just swarmed by little smiling faces. Even the youngest students knew "Hello! My name is______!"
One kid, he was not in any of my classes. But he loved to run up to me and shout "Hello! My name is Ushiro!" Which is Japanese for butt. Second graders are immature all around the world. I let him slide for a bit. Even a teacher was like "You know he said butt, right?" and I'm like "Yep, he does that."
The kids all have name tags and one day after his butt spiel, I squatted down and read his name tag. Ryota. I purposely mispronounced it "Ryoooouuuta?" and this little goofball! He dramatically clutches his chest and says in English "OH. MY. GOD." and just flops down on the stairs.
